UAE's ASGC acquires facade firm JML for undisclosed sum

ASGC has bought a controlling stake in façade supplier JML UAE for an undisclosed sum, a move designed to enhance its build and design portfolio.

Launched in 2006, JML UAE is the Emirates-based arm of Australia-headquartered JML. It has provided architectural façade and glazing services for numerous projects, including Mohammed bin Rashid Library and Expo 2020 Dubai's Sustainability Pavilion.

Through various subsidiaries and a mix of controlling and minority stakes in other companies, ASGC owns much of its supply chain, and the acquisition of JML UAE is an extension of this strategy – one that gives it more control and greater efficiency over its design and build work in the UAE and Egypt.

On the acquisition, Bishoy Azmy, chief executive officer of ASGC, said: “We continually look at how ASGC can develop the strongest suite of premium services that will enable us to manage project delivery from start to finish. We are exceptionally pleased to welcome JML UAE into the ASGC portfolio. The company’s extensive expertise and reputation as a leading façade contractor adds great value to our existing services with world-class experience and capabilities.”

Shaun Duncan, JML UAE's general manager, said the company's work on existing projects would be supported by ASGC's “immense portfolio of manpower, design, and technology solutions”.
